KeyNote Bank 10 (Ctrl+Shift+0)
The "What"
To retrieve KeyWord 0, the user presses [CTRL+SHIFT+0], but nothing happens, even though the KeyWord manager shows an entry for this KeyWord.
The "Why"
Microsoft assigns the accelerator, <Ctrl+Shift+0> to switch keyboard layout in multi-language installations. This is not necessarily done by default, but is the initial state on many Windows computers, and in particular, seems to be the actual default in Windows 10.
The "How"
The accelerator to switch keyboard layout can be changed easily by following these steps:
- Open Settings
- Select "Devices"
- Select "Typing"
- Near the bottom of the page, find and click "Advanced Keyboard Settings"
- Click the "Language Bar Options" link.
- On the "Language Bar Options" dialog, click the "Advanced Key Settings" tab.
- In the "Advanced Key Settings" dialog, select "Between Input Languages", then click the "Change Key Sequence" button near the bottom of the dialog.
- Under both "Switch Input Language" and "Switch Keyboard Layout", select "Not Assigned". (Note -- both language and kbd layout can still be changed on the language bar in the Windows Taskbar.)
- Finally, click "OK", and exit from the Keyboard dialogs.
