Tutorial : Changing Modes

So far in this tutorial, we've been using Edit mode. The program starts up in this mode, which displays all of the usual window elements such as a title bar, menu, etc., and shows the script and runlist windows in the application background.

When the program goes into Prompt mode, the currently selected script window (or the first script in the runlist) will re-size to cover the entire screen, and the window elements such as the title and scroll bars will disappear. The program is then ready to be controlled by the control device.

Switching Between Modes

For this section, instead of using the normal program menu commands that have been used in previous examples, this section will use keyboard accelerators.

A keyboard accelerator is a combination of keys that are the equivalent of clicking on a menu command. In fact, many menus list accelerators to the right of the commands, and most of the commands we've used so far have keyboard accelerators.

Here are the keyboard accelerators for changing between Editing and Prompting modes:

To switch to Edit Mode:Press <Alt+F3>
To switch to Prompt Mode:Press <Alt+F5>

Try switching modes several times to see the difference between them, and then leave the program in Prompt mode for the next example. (An example of what the screen looks like in Prompt mode is below.)
