Legacy Print Dialog in Win10/Win11 apps.
Microsoft quietly removed the familiar legacy Print Dialog and substituted a simplified Dialog which removes several features. In addition, MS did not provide any way for programmers or end users to specify that they'd like to use the Legacy Print dialog. However, there is a way that involves using the Registry. It must be done on a per/user basis. If you're not comfortable modifying the Registry, best to ask someone who IS comfortable diddling with the insides of the OS to help you. In any case, start by backing up the registry. Then, follow these steps:
1. In the Windows Search box, "Regedit <Enter>"
(note: if you have to be told not to type the quotation marks or the <Enter> means to press the key marked Enter, then you probably should find someone to help you out.)
2. When the Regedit appear, find "Export" in the "File" menu. Export the contents of your Registry to a flash drive, your desktop, or some other location where it can be easily found. Also provide a self-identifying name such as 2025MAY12-Laptop-10-RegBak.reg. The extension will be provided by RegEdit.
Now, use the provided REG file to modify your registry to allow usingĀ the familiar Legacy Print Dialog:
1. Download Legacy_Print_Dlg.txt (Attached below)
2. Edit the file extension from "txt" to "reg".
3. You can now execute this registry editing file by just double clicking in your download location.
You should now see the familiar PrintDlg in your TeleScript Software.
